Mary Donnelly

Senior Clinical Psychologist, C. Psychol. Ps.S.I, BSocSci (Hons), MSocSci (Clin Psych)

Mary is the co-founder of Rewild Therapy. She is registered as a Chartered Psychologist of the Psychological Society of Ireland (membership number M10544C). Mary has worked for over 20 years in her role as a Clinical Psychologist with children, teenagers, families and adults.

Mary qualified as a Clinical Psychologist from Rhodes University, South Africa in 2003. She worked in a range of South African public and private mental health services, with children, adults, and families. Mary co-founded the Psychological Care Centre in 2007, where she worked for twelve years with children, teenagers, adults and families, before moving to Ireland in 2019.

Mary received full validation of her Clinical Psychologist qualification by the Irish Department of Health Validation Unit in 2019. She joined Horizons (formerly Cope Foundation) in 2020 and worked as a Senior Clinical Psychologist in their autism service, which became a Children’s Disability Network Team in 2021. Mary gained specialised experience during five years in the CDNT services, with Horizons and Corlann (formerly Brothers of Charity), working in interdisciplinary teams supporting children and teenagers with complex needs associated with a range of neurodevelopmental differences and difficulties.

Mary has a deep interest in working with children and teenagers presenting with autistic experience. She is dedicated to the neuroaffirmative approach to understanding neurodivergence, which she brings to her autism identification (assessment) and intervention work. Mary is proud to be neurodivergent herself, and is a deeply compassionate person who brings her personal understanding and a sense of joy to her work with neurodivergent young people and their families.

Martin Donnelly

Senior Clinical Psychologist, C. Psychol. Ps.S.I, BA (Hons), MA (Clin Psych)

Martin is the co-founder of Rewild Therapy. He is registered as a Chartered Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland (M10543C), having completed the Clinical Psychologist Validation process with the Irish Department of Health, prior to relocating with his family to Ireland in 2019.

Martin qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2002 from Rhodes University, South Africa. He was the Psychosocial Services Manager at Grahamstown Hospice until 2006. Martin co-founded the Psychological Care Centre in 2007. He was a guest lecturer, and a Clinical Supervisor to Training and Intern Psychologists, at Rhodes University and Fort England Psychiatric Hospital for a decade. Martin was involved with the hospice movement regionally and nationally for many years, and was a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in Palliative Care for the World Health Organisation.

Martin was the Senior Clinical Psychologist at the Sunflower Clinic in Cork from 2020 to 2024, building up extensive multidisciplinary autism assessment experience, and running an adolescent intervention service. He joined a Children’s Disability Network Team in 2024. Martin brings over twenty years of clinical experience with children, teenagers, adults and families. As a neurodivergent person and parent, he is a passionate advocate of neuroaffirmative practice, and disability and LGBTQIA+ rights. Martin has a deep interest in supporting autistic young people on their journey to becoming their authentic selves, and knows that with the right supports and accommodations, autistic people can thrive. He strives to foster autistic flow, increase self-compassion and joy, and to empower the parents of autistic young people, who are often neurodivergent themselves, with understanding, skills, hope, and support.

Katie Cronin

Senior Speech and Language Therapist, BSc (Hons) SLT

Katie obtained her degree in Speech and Language Therapy from University College Cork and is registered with the CORU Health and Social Care Professional Body (SL051040). Katie is currently working within a Children’s Disability Network Team, supporting children and young people, with a wide range of neurodevelopment differences.

Katie’s approach to her work is neurodiversity-affirming, person-led, and grounded in respect for each individual’s unique strengths, preferences and ways of experiencing the world. Katie is passionate about creating supportive environments that respect autistic communication styles and sensory regulation preferences, enabling individuals to feel safe, understood and empowered in their daily lives.

Katie’s work is grounded in a Total Communication approach, supporting individuals to communicate in ways that are meaningful and accessible to them. Katie is passionate about reducing communication barriers and educating communication partners on the importance of validating and accommodating all methods of communication.

Katie values understanding behaviour as communication and supporting parents to understand and respond to underlying communication and sensory needs. Katie also has a keen interest in supporting autonomy and self-advocacy for autistic individuals, as well as supporting individuals on their autism identification journey.
